Seemingly out of nowhere, the rich aroma of fragrant jasmine starts tickling your nose gently. It’s soon joined by sweet blueberry and blackberry notes. The luscious aftertaste this unique experience leaves you with is bound to be hard to top…
Travelling across the Ethiopian region of Guji in southern Oromia, one can admire the golden coffee plantations of the Shakisso Estate. These fields are home to some of Ethiopia’s oldest arabica subspecies. The luscious estate is surrounded by numerous gold mines—which is why the land’s punctuated by holes dug by the local gold diggers. Although this certainly does result in additional dangers and challenges that Guji’s coffee farmers must overcome, the extraordinary flavour of their harvest makes every bit of hardship worth it.

The washed processing method involves separating the bean from the pulp, fermenting the beans in water, then leaving them out to dry. This creates particularly "clean" flavours and well-defined notes, as well as tends to enhance fruitiness.
"Ethiopia Shakisso" is one of our finest African specialty coffees. Like most coffees from Africa, it's marked by vivid acidity, which coffee connoisseurs from all over the world adore. Don't confuse it with the kind of acidity typical of low-quality coffees: this one's pleasantly sweet, fruity, and very much reminiscent of berries. Try it and see for yourself!
